Hot Rolled Steel
Diamond Metals is your Choice for Hot Rolled Steel
Hot Rolled Steel is available in many shapes, grades, and sizes.
To make the steel easier to form and to create products that are easier to work with; hot rolled steel has been roll-pressed at very high temperatures that are typically above the re-crystallization temperature for most steels.
Since hot rolled steel is cooled after processing, it shrinks slightly, creating less control over its final shape, making it less suitable for precision applications. Hot rolled steel is typically used in applications where very specific dimensions aren’t critical.
Hot rolled steel requires much less processing than cold rolled steel, making it more cost efficient. Hot rolled steel is free from internal stresses that can arise from quenching or work-hardening processes.

Technical And Application Information
Diamond Metals Hot Rolled Steel inventory includes the following grades, in both plate and rounds. Other grades may be available.
A36
Excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling and machining processes. A36 is the most commonly used mild and hot rolled steel.
C1018
Easily formed, machined, welded and fabricated. Especially suited for parts which require cold forming (such as crimping, swaging, or bending). For extreme bends, stress relieving may be necessary to prevent cracking.
